The U.S. Supreme Court will not revisit the federal ruling that blocked a partnership between American Airlines and JetBlue.

American has asked the Supreme Court to intervene and reverse a decision by a lower court invalidating an alliance with JetBlue Airways on antitrust grounds.

An appeals court upheld on Friday that the lower court correctly ruled in an antitrust verdict against a partnership between American and JetBlue.

On Monday, JetBlue set in motion a second attempt to merge with Spirit — the ultra-low-cost carrier — through the means of a hostile takeover.
