Ethiopian Airlines on Wednesday denied media reports that it planned to lease commercial aircraft to airlines in Russia.

Iran Air is reportedly reaching out to prospective partners and aircraft suppliers as it prepares for the possible rollback of U.S. sanctions.

To combat continued sanctions, Russia forcefully re-registered foreign aircraft. The buy out will allow airlines to use the seized aircraft internationally.

Aeroflot — Russia’s largest carrier — announced on Dec. 30, that it had bought 10 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which have been under financial lease from an Irish leasing company since 2013 and 2014.
