Aircraft maintenance technicians represented by the Teamsters Union are continuing contract negotiations with United Airlines this week.

Many U.S. airlines have hinted at more moderated hiring numbers in 2025 following the record-setting post-COVID numbers.

United’s Washington to Bozeman flight previously held the No. 1 spot. This summer, though, the nearly 1,800-mile route will be operated by Airbus A319s.

United is set to add a new service between the U.S. and Canada later this year. The airline currently operates over 160 flights between the two countries. 

Regional carrier Mesa Airlines will shed more of its fleet in the coming months following a purchase agreement with United.

In December, major carriers and their regional counterparts canceled nearly 6,000 flights, roughly double the 3,000 in December 2023.

The Chicago-based airline initially announced an agreement with Elon Musk’s satellite Wi-Fi provider in September 2024.
